Available Positions

Director of Development

The Piedmont School & John Yowell Academy, a K-12th grade independent school dedicated to providing a robust and individualized education to students with attention deficits and/or language based learning differences, is seeking a Director of Development. The position is responsible for cultivating, maintaining, and growing donor relations. The Director collaborates with the Head of School, Assistant Head of School, and the school’s leadership team to provide strategic direction to enhance the school’s image internally and externally, consistent with the mission and values. 

In addition, the Director will:

  • Communicate clearly, authentically, and compellingly, both in written and electronic publications, as well as in prepared and impromptu remarks;
  • Work in a mission-driven environment led by forward-thinking leaders;
  • Serve as a highly visible representative of the school in the community;
  • Understand best-practice fundraising (annual giving, special events, etc) among current parents, grandparents, alumni, and former donors, and be visibly and actively engaged with parents, students, colleagues, and others in the community;
  • Identify, develop, cultivate, and solicit donor prospects, and support the Board and Head in their cultivation and solicitation.
  • Direct and lead the annual, capital, and major gifts programs of the school.
  • Oversee gift administration, including donor records, acknowledgement letters, mailing lists, and contact tracks.
  • Maintain effective communication with the Finance Office regarding gifts management.
  • Manage, update, and maintain donor database (Network For Good platform)
  • Assist with parent volunteer efforts, making certain all activities follow the school’s mission and operate in concert with other school groups and activities.
  • Serve as an ambassador and representative for the school with local neighbors and the High Point/Triad business community.
  • Participate and assist in cultivating and soliciting donors with our current capital campaign and associated team and committees. 


  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred 
  • Experience in development and fundraising required.
  • Experience in a non-profit or education setting is beneficial

Substitute Teachers

The Piedmont School is currently looking to add experienced substitues to our sub list. We are looking for those with flexibility in their schedule and with previous substitute teaching experience.

We are looking to add substitues for the 2021-2022 school year and moving forward. 


  • Associate's Degree or higher. 
  • Experience substitute teaching.
  • A positive attitude and energy for working with children.
  • All substitutes must complete/pass a background check and drug screening.

Pay Rate: 

The Piedmont School pays $15/hour for substitutes.
