Literacy Teacher (K-8)- Full Time
We are seeking a passionate, student-centered Literacy Teacher to join our team and support students in grades 3–8 within small-group settings (1:6 ratio). This educator will provide targeted, research-based instruction to students with learning differences, including ADHD, dyslexia, Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), and some students with ASD Level 1. The ideal candidate believes deeply in unlocking student potential and thrives in a supportive, collaborative school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver explicit, structured literacy instruction grounded in the Science of Reading
- Teach phonics, decoding, fluency, comprehension, writing, vocabulary, spelling, and morphology
- Provide differentiated, small-group instruction tailored to individual learning profiles
- Monitor student progress and use data to inform instruction
- Foster a positive, encouraging classroom culture that builds confidence and independence
- Communicate consistently and collaboratively with parents, specialists, and faculty
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree required
- Experience working with students with learning differences required
- Knowledge of multiple evidence-based reading approaches (phonics-based instruction, guided reading, structured literacy)
- Experience or training in LETRS, Wilson, Orton-Gillingham, or similar structured literacy programs preferred (but not required)
- Comfort teaching both reading and written expression
- Strong organizational skills and ability to scaffold executive functioning

Contract Hours: 7:30am-3:30pm following Academic Calendar
Salary Range: $39,000-$52,000 (based on experience and qualifications)

Art Teacher (K-8th)- Part Time

Job Summary:
The Piedmont School & John Yowell Academy seeks a passionate, creative, and student-centered Part-Time Art Teacher to join our Arts Department. This educator will inspire students in grades K–8 through engaging, hands-on art experiences that foster creativity, confidence, and self-expression.
This role is ideal for an educator who believes in making art accessible to all learners and is excited to work in a collaborative, mission-driven environment serving students with learning differences.
- Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or related field (preferred)
- Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging, structured, and creative lesson plans
- Passion for fostering creativity and making art accessible to all learners
- Experience or familiarity working with students with learning differences (e.g., ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, auditory processing differences, or ASD Level 1) is strongly preferred
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
Reports to: Head of School and Assistant Head of School
Position Type: Part-Time, Aug-May (follows school calendar holidays, workdays, etc)
Contract Hours: Mondays and Tuesdays 7:30am-3:30pm; occasional additional hours/days for special events
Compensation: $22-$28/hr based on experience
Benefits: Benefits are not available for part-time positions
Substitute Teachers
The Piedmont School is currently looking to add experienced substitues to our sub list. We are looking for those with flexibility in their schedule and with previous substitute teaching experience.
We are looking to add substitues for the school year.
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree or higher.
- Experience substitute teaching.
- A positive attitude and energy for working with children.
- All substitutes must complete/pass a background check and drug screening.
Pay Rate:
The Piedmont School pays $15/hour for substitutes.
