Available Positions For the 2024-2025 School Year

 

School Counselor

The Piedmont School & John Yowell Academy is seeking a part-time School Counselor for the 2024-2025 school year. The chosen candidate will work with all students in grades K-12 (approximately 85-100 students per year) and will be responsible for the below qualifications and job responsibilities.

Job Information: 

  • Part time school counselor position that will serve as the lead school counselor for students in grades K-12 
  • Preferred schedule would be Monday through Thursday from 8:00am-2:00pm (24 hours) with occasional additional hours as deemed necessary by Head of School. This position has the possibility to evolve into a full time position in the future.
  • Position would follow the school’s Academic Calendar for the 2024-2025 school and would operate as a 10 month employee 

School Counselor Job Responsibilities: 

  •     Advises and counsels students regarding academic and short-term social and emotional difficulties.
  •     Provide mental health education and awareness to students, faculty, and administration.
  •     Participate in parent conferences when requested by teachers, Leadership Team, or parents. 
  •     Collaborate with professionals in the community to act as a liaison for students involved in outside treatments. 
  •     Teaches guidance classes on a rotation and provides guidance counseling to students through planned activities in small group or classroom settings to support educational, social and emotional needs.
  •     Consults, facilitates, and maintains communication with parents, teachers, administrators and pertinent stakeholders on specific student and parent academic and educational matters.
  •     Appropriately refers students to behavioral health specialists on developing and implementing supports when necessary. 
  •     Mediates and improves relationships between students, parents, and teachers.
  •     Provide crisis intervention and assessment for referrals if needed. 
  •     Facilitates a sense of belonging and mattering for all students, families, and faculty while leading and building the character education programming within the school community. 
  •    Serve as a resource to all faculty, parents, and students for consultation and outside professional referals if needed. 

School Counselor Qualifications/Skills:

  •     Desire and ability to work with students in K-12 with diverse backgrounds and levels of ability toward accomplishing their educational goals.
  •     Ability to organize tasks and manage time to meet many and varied deadlines and communicate effectively with students, parents, school administrators and other staff, including the ability to discuss topics which may be sensitive in nature. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal 
  • Collaborative by nature 
  • Passion for building relationships with students, faculty, and families 

Education, Experience and Licensing Requirements:

  •     Master’s Degree in counseling field (K-12 School Counseling preferred)
  •     Holds a School Counselor’s K-12 School Counseling license (NC preferred) OR private clinician LPC license.
  •     Previous experience working with students with learning differences such as ADHD, auditory processing, anxiety and specific language based learning disabilities is beneficial.

Substitute Teachers

The Piedmont School is currently looking to add experienced substitues to our sub list. We are looking for those with flexibility in their schedule and with previous substitute teaching experience.

We are looking to add substitues for the school year. 

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or higher. 
  • Experience substitute teaching.
  • A positive attitude and energy for working with children.
  • All substitutes must complete/pass a background check and drug screening.

Pay Rate: 

The Piedmont School pays $15/hour for substitutes.
