Tutoring And Academic Coaching
Available At The Piedmont School
The Piedmont
School offers tutoring and academic coaching programs to area private and public school
students. These programs produce excellent student
learning outcomes as well as high marks from parents and teachers.
The Piedmont School has discovered over the past 28 years that
many students with specific learning and/or attention weaknesses
need periodic tutoring support to maintain their academic success.
According to Dr. Martha Sharpless,
long-time area developmental pediatrician and former Piedmont School
Board of Trustees member, “many of the students identified as
having specific learning differences and/or A.D.D. require
intense, highly focused tutoring services. Often these students
are well-served within their current school environment if the
weak academic areas can be aggressively tutored during the school
day by specialized instructors.”
The Piedmont School tutoring staff
is trained in multiple reading, written language, and math
interventions and methodologies. Tutoring students receive academic assessments to determine their specific
tutoring needs. Tutors collaborate with the student’s
teachers, establish tutoring goals, and continually measure
student progress. Parent/teacher conferences and a written report
are standard practice for all tutoring students. Together
teachers, parents, tutors and coaches collaborate to maximize classroom
and learning objectives.
The Piedmont School was established in 1982 by families whose
children were struggling in traditional education due to specific
learning differences, Attention Deficit Disorder. The Piedmont School is located on a 15 acre campus
in the northwest section of High Point, approximately 10 minutes
from both Winston Salem and Greensboro. The day school enrollment
consist of 1st through 8th grade
students. After-school tutoring, academic coaching services
and summer programs serve 1st through 12th grade students with
academic needs.
